What P2P is and why the rate differs between exchanges
P2P (peer-to-peer) is trading between people inside an exchange: one user sells USDT, another buys it with USD by card or bank transfer. The exchange holds the seller's coins in escrow until the buyer pays, so neither side can simply vanish with the money.
Each seller sets their own price, so the USDT P2P rate differs between ads and between exchanges. The gap between the cheapest and the dearest exchange is usually 1-4%, and more in thinner currencies. On a few hundred dollars that is real money - which is why it pays to compare rather than buy on the first exchange you find.
How to buy USDT at a good rate, step by step
- Pick the currency and the side in the table above - Buy or Sell.
- Enter the amount you plan to trade: ads whose limits do not fit disappear, so you see the real price for your amount rather than a $10 lure.
- Pick your bank (Wise, Revolut, bank transfer): buy from someone who takes transfers from your bank and you avoid interbank fees.
- Check the seller: number of trades and completion rate. Over 100 trades and 95%+ completed is a good sign.
- Open the ad on the exchange and complete the trade. Pay only to the details in the trade chat, and mark it paid only after the transfer.
P2P safety: what to know
- Never move to a messenger at a seller's request or pay outside the trade - escrow protection only works inside the exchange.
- Do not write "USDT", "crypto" or "P2P" in the transfer note - banks may block it.
- Pay from your own card in the name shown on the exchange: a seller may reject a third-party payment.
- If something goes wrong, open an appeal on the exchange instead of settling it directly.
Bought USDT - what next?
The price gap between exchanges you see in the table is the very thing arbitrage traders earn from: buy where it is cheaper, sell where it is dearer. On P2P that takes time and care, but on spot and futures markets such gaps open every day across dozens of exchanges. VVARB finds them automatically and works out the profit after fees.
